My favorite thing about Josie is how she knew what she wanted and made the brave leap to get it. When she applied to graduate school, she really wanted to move to New York City, so she submitted everything and then went straight to Parsons, she made them take notice of her, and she got accepted (I'm sure her amazing portfolio helped!). She lived in New York making art and having so many great experiences.
Three years ago, we went back for a visit together, and she showed me around---even though she had already seen/done a lot of the stuff, she humored my desire to site-see. She is constantly looking for ways to enrich her life through the arts and she is a positive force in art education in my community. She is always supportive and in the most encouraging way.
This picture was sketched by one of my former students, I randomly found it on my computer when I was searching for a photo for this post. Isn't it great?
